Once upon a time a youth group in a church decided to start doing something different with their lives, but also they wanted the best time during that moment to remember in their souls for long.
They didn’t want to have only a fairy story to tell later; they wanted something for real that could keep forever. Then that people tried the best to make their dream a reality.
Everything was to plan, to prepare all the strategy and logistic support and … at the end, to go to Tabasco, Mexico, and start the first youth relation between the Presbytery of Coastal Carolina and el Presbiterio del Golfo de México.
But they needed the church and family support; and the church understanding their courage to do so allowed them not only to plan, but to make this plan a vivid experience. This only can be in churches like Brownson Memorial in Southern Pines, NC with enough Lord’s Spirit to impulse their youth to demonstrate themselves how to
serve the Lord Jesus Christ
Six kids with the ages among 15-17 years, their counselor Ms. Zoe Cagle; plus to cops aside, Revs. Burwell Shore and Eduardo Moreno (he says to translate) put the feet on a plane and flew to the south of the border.
With enough Holy Spirit and enthusiasm in their bodies worked at the "Dorcas" Bible School, painting the outside front wall. They visited various churches enjoying the Christian spirit within the youth at our partner Presbytery in México. And worshiped with their brothers and sisters to Christ putting aside the differences among
cultures, languages and point of view.
They came back to tell their church and the whole Presbytery that it is possible to do Mission in Tabasco WITH our Mexican Partners and that could be the most spiritual experience anybody could have in their lives. Just try.
Recommendations:
1). If your youth groups are composed by minors have all their passports, legal paperwork signed by both parents and appropriated notarized to travel.
2). Tell your youth group to enjoy anything in their travel.
3). Tell them to make friends, they are Christians also.
4). Tell their counselor to be real supportive and with a Christian attitude with them in everything.
5). Remember, we are Christian people visiting other Christian people; language doesn’t matter at all.
