Hunger Information - Our Presbytery
WHAT IS OUR PRESBYTERY DOING TO FIGHT HUNGER?
The Hunger Sub-committee of the Committee for Mission and Outreach is composed of Presbyterians from each of the 6 regions of the Presbytery. They meet quarterly to discuss hunger issues, to consider grant applications, and to disburse monies received through the Cents-Ability program of the PCUSA. Often called 2-Cents (or 3-Cents)-A-Meal programs, donations are collected in many of our churches and at Presbytery functions. Churches may keep 25% of their collection to help with local hunger projects, if they wish.
Of the money received by the Presbytery each year, for 2010 these recipients have been selected:
- 70% is used for international mission,
- Haiti - Two Hunger Programs
- Matthew 28, Inc. (M28)n (see Video below)
