Faithful Saints Recognition 2012
The purpose of the
Older Adult Ministries Recognition is to honor persons, 60
years or older, who exemplify positive images of aging at
every level of the church and/or community. Further, this
recognition offers an opportunity at the local and
presbytery levels to recognize faithful saints who, by their
example, serve as role models to all the generations for
maturing with a sense of God's grace. OPEN the Faithful Saints Flyer here Submissions Due by May 14, 2012
Spice Award in Christian Education Presbytery's 2011 SPICE Award was presented at Leadership School to Community Presbyterian Church for their CALL (Community Assisting Learning Language) program. This is a year-round program to prepare under-achieving Hispanic children for success in school through weekly tutoring during the school year and during the summer; attending VBS and going on field trips. A major new part of the program is tutoring the moms of the children. The church received an award certificate and $100 to help support the program. See all the great ideas
that were submitted here! Older Adult Ministries Planning guide booklet We hope you find this guide useful in developing your plans for “Older Adult Week”. The theme for the 2011 guide is centered around “Intergenerational Ministries”. You could have a week of activities featuring interaction between youth and older adults, such as computer “geeks” teaching seniors how to surf the web! Or talks on how grandparents are raising grandchildren, while some volunteer as mentors to disadvantaged youngsters. What about elementary students reading stories to members of a senior center? You get the picture! How ever you decide to celebrate, we hope this guide will be of service to you. Open the booklet to learn more or visit http://www.poamn.org/ The PCUSA church-planning calendar designates the first week in May as Older Adult Week. |
