African American Ministries

PURPOSE: To strengthen the ministries of the African-American congregations within the Presbytery, and to assist the Presbytery to become more aware of the needs and gifts of African American congregations.

• to plan and promote programs of training, education and fellowship designed to affirm African-Americans in ministry as an integral part of the whole Presbytery;
• to promote involvement of African-American persons in the total program, mission and worship of Presbytery;
•  to develop and maintain open lines of communication with other ethnic congregations and groups, as well as with the general leadership of the Presbytery;
• to develop ways to respond to and work with developing and emerging African-American constituencies in the bounds of Presbytery;
• to work with other ethnic groups & other committees of Presbytery in a common advocacy for racial justice and inclusiveness;
• to assist the Committee for Church Revitalization and Transformation and Committee for New Church Development to understand the needs & opportunities to the African-American Community;
